Opening for a McCormick Elementary 1st grade teacher for the 2021-2022 school year.

Additional coaching or sponsorship stipends may be available.

Immediate Supervisor:  Building Principal

Qualifications:

The classroom teacher will meet qualifications and behavior standards as set by the Kansas Department of Education.  In accordance with certification requirements and the performance expectations of USD #384, all classroom teachers shall meet the following employment criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

  • A valid Kansas Teacher’s Certificate with appropriate endorsement.

  • Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Communicates high expectations to all learners

  • Incorporates appropriate use of technology

  • Effectively implements the district-adopted curriculum

  • Develops lesson plans by incorporating effective lesson design

  • Routinely integrates a variety of informal and formal assessments into instruction

  • Administers standardized test in accordance with district testing protocol

  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve effective participation in activities and learning experiences

  • Maintains up-to-date records of student progress

  • Creates a positive, inviting, and safe learning environment

  • Communicates effectively and promotes positive relationships with all patrons

  • Supports the District’s educational mission for all students and implements all Board regulations and policies in a fair and equitable manner

  • Maintains confidentiality

  • Assisting with school events

  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the principal or superintendent may assign

We offer a variety of programs designed to fit the needs and interests of all students. Excellence and equity are the standard. We educate all children. 

We have a 14:1 student/teacher ratio. 1:1 technology for all students using a variety of platforms such as iPads, Chromebooks and MacBooks. The District is 24 miles north of Manhattan.  We offer the best of the small town life but close to the larger city with all the amenities. We have strong academic programs and curriculum that is exemplified by our high state assessment score and high graduation rate of 96%.
