Blue Valley - Randolph USD 384 has an immediate opening for a ½ time Business/Finance Instructor for the 2022-2023 school year with the potential for full-time in the 23-24 school year. We are looking for a dynamic person who wants to serve a community, lead students, and help us with our mission of improving lives through relationships and education. The successful candidate will be motivated to grow the business program beyond its current state and have the desire to create programs that students want to be involved in.

Qualifications:

The Business/Finance teacher should be passionate about student learning and teaching. Plan and implement an instructional program that prepares students for educational pathways and occupations in business. Provide students with real-world experiences through classroom instruction, hands-on application, and work-based learning opportunities. 

The qualified candidate will also have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

  • A valid Kansas Teacher’s Certificate with appropriate endorsement.

  • Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.

Performance Responsibilities:

The Business/Finance teacher will perform all or some of the following job description:  

  • Instruct students in digital citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. 

  • Select and requisition books, instructional materials, tools, instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records  

  • May sponsor exhibits from outside the school Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities  

  • Teach and enhance classes that meet the need for priority occupations in business management.

  • Adhere to the district's philosophy of instruction. 

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.

  • Plan, develop, and deliver instruction physically and digitally including the use of approved learning management systems and other personalized learning vehicles.

  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles. 

  • Conduct an assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities. 

  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).

Student Growth and Development:

  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.

  • Sponsor/co-sponsor an approved career and technical student organization and promote student participation

  • Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of school district.

CTE Program Support:

  • Contribute to the continued development of an up-to-date, relevant Business Management program and provide a vision for future needs.

  • Engage in regular and systematic planning for classes with fellow teachers as available; integrate the academic core curriculum into a meaningful, relevant curriculum.

  • Collaborate with principals, teachers, higher education and industry advisors.

  • Maintain industry partnerships and post-secondary relations that promote course articulation, dual credit, and work-based learning opportunities, and ensure curriculum relevancy.

Classroom Management and Organization:

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. 

  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.

  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

  • Ability to manage lab computers and equipment in good repair including updates & inventory.

CTE Program Support:

  • Contribute to the continued development of an up-to-date, relevant Business Management program and provide a vision for future needs.

Driver’s Education Instructor

Immediate Opening for a Driver's Education Instructor for the 2022-2023 school year.  

Immediate Supervisor:  Building Principal

Purpose of the position

Through a combination of classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, the Driver's Education Instructor will be responsible for delivering Driver's Education courses, teaching students to operate vehicles, and instilling respect for state driving laws and parking regulations. 

Qualifications:

The driver's education instructor will meet qualifications and behavior standards as set by the Kansas Department of Education.  In accordance with certification requirements and the performance expectations of USD #384, all classroom teachers shall meet the following employment criteria:

Preferred Qualifications and/or Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.

  • Kansas Teaching License.

  • Two (2) years of teaching experience.

  • One year Driver's Education instructor.

  • Experience teaching at-risk youth.

  • Driver's education teaching endorsement issued by the Kansas State Department of Education from the date of hire and retain the certification throughout employment.

  • Valid Driver's License and no license suspensions, DUI, DWI, Chemical Test failures, or similar citations within the past three (3) years.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Conduct classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction consistent with the Kansas (DMV) requirements and Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) standards to prepare new student drivers for successful licensure.

  • Create an inclusive environment that is conducive to serving students while meeting the requirements of federal, state, and local mandates.

  • Prepare and deliver an 8-hour classroom instructional program for a group of students and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with each student.

  • Track all aspects of each student's driver education training and related communications and report information to students, parents, and school management personnel.

  • Maintain impeccable safety standards.

  • Maintain efficient and effective operations of all areas under employees' direction and control.

  • Ability to work during evenings and on weekends as required.

  • Other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population.

  • High energy, self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.

  • Working knowledge of Google and Microsoft applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to manage several projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously.

  • Graduated high school with a diploma or GED.

  • Preferred but not required to have an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university.

General Responsibilities

  • Organize and prepare materials.

  • Follow team-prescribed procedures for academic, social, communication, and behavioral intervention plans. 

  • Participate in collaborative planning.  

  • Communicate and work collaboratively with general education teachers, administrators, and other special education service providers/consultants.  

  • Share in school-wide duties as assigned, which do not conflict with student time.  

  • Share in recordkeeping duties, including progress monitoring, as assigned by professional staff.  

  • Participate in in-service and training, both required and as agreed upon by the paraeducator and professional staff.  

  • Support students in all school environments, including community-based training.  

  • Provide short-term coverage for professional and paraeducator peers.  

  • Seek assistance from other team members as needed to facilitate student progress.  

  • Travel to/from schools as required by the job.  

  • Proper techniques in lifting persons or equipment of 50 pounds or more (two or more people needed for weights about 50 pounds or for identified students with lifting concerns).  

  • Follow district and BSEC policy, protocol, procedures, and programs when implementing duties.

  • Assist students as needed, including mobility and self-help (diapering, feeding, dressing, etc.).   

  • Obtain, gather, and organize pertinent data as needed.

  • Keep abreast of new information and innovative ideas and techniques.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Building/District Administrator.
