Members attending FCCLA National Fall Conference

FCCLA attended National Fall Conference in Columbus, OH., on November 11-13, 2022. Members competed in various contests, attended both the opening and closing sessions, as well as sessions. In the opening session the keynote speaker was Cameron Mitchell. He spoke about how he made it in Hospitality. As an entrepreneur in the restaurant business for over 30 years. Members attended the workshop create their authentic burritos.

This metaphor of building a burrito will be utilized to visualize their true authentic selves and what that means for them. Every burrito is different, meaning we must learn how to navigate a world full of different people. This workshop will prepare participants with skills to be themselves in a professional environment. The next workshop was about balancing life which is We all know how it feels when it seems you have a million things to do and no time to do them! When you find yourself in that position, it can be hard to take care of your work, while also maintaining your relationships and taking care of yourself. In this workshop, we will give you the tips and tricks you need to get work done while leading a happy, healthy life. Then they attended workshop Exploring the Future Hospitality Business Leader which was about Every effective "hospitality" leader recognizes that providing an exceptional guest experience is critical to realizing success. But it takes more than generating an exceptional guest experience to become a great "hospitality" leader. Great leaders must inhibit the aptitude to build and create a great team who can ultimately assist your organization function at the maximum level.

For this reason, focused leadership qualities and skills are critical. What are the qualities and skills that compel a leader to be successful? What characteristics must a leader hold to be effective? Then they visited the exhibits which included Ohio State, Texas Tech, Kendra Scot, Army, Dairy Council, Lead4change and many others. In the closing session the keynote speaker was Sarah Wells who is 400 meter Olympian. She talked overcoming her injury the year before her Olympic run. She had 3 C which are Consistency, Choice, and Catalogue. Then we attended a special event at the Center of Science and Institute. Members participated in a lot of STEM activities that included dinosaurs, energy, water, and new engineer in cars. In our competition Brenna Gibson competed in person in Creed Interpretation and placed 9th. Haven Macom participated in the Culinary Math Challenge and placed 12th. Great job ladies!
